PEACE BY PIECE QUILTERS MAKE 1,000,000th QUILT

APRIL FOOL'S !!!  Although sometimes it does seem like we have surely made 1,000,000 quilts we really haven't.  But we have got 2012 off to an impressive start.  We finished the 1st quarter with 116 quilts made.  The really impressive number is the total number of quilts we have made since that very first bee we held in April 2004.  That number is a whopping 3,235.  That number is a long ways from 1,000,000 but it's still one to be proud of.

PEACE BY PIECE QUILTERS FUNDRAISING

During the March bee the bee fundraiser raffle for the day raised $38.00.  To date these fundraiser have brought in $165.00.

This month we have purchased 3 rolls of batting to meet our demand for the next 3 to 5 bees.  Additional heat resistant materials were also purchased to make a banquet table size ironing cover.  The ironing cover will be used at the next bee to determine if it needs any modifications before a second one is made.  We will not need more than two covers unless the number of volunteers attending the bees increases dramatically.  We also received an estate donation of many yards of white and off white flannel which will be used for batting in our flannel  toddler quilts.

  BEE REPORT

The March Peace by Piece Quilters bee provided a few LARGE piles of finished quilts.  We completed 53 child/teen quilts and 1 preemie!  It is interesting how these little preemies have started showing up the last couple of months.

QUOTES & TIDBITS

All mankind is divided into three classes: those who are immovable, those who are movable; and those who move.

Sandpaper is a handy tool to have on hand.  It prevents fabric from moving when marking with a pencil.  Place the fabric on the rough side of the sandpaper and draw your quilting lines or appliqué shapes.

Did you know Babe Ruth had another talent besides baseball?  It was sewing!  He worked in a shirt factory as a child.
