 OFF TO A GOOD START...

Last month the Peace By Piece Quilters held their first monthly quilting bee in our new home, the Pyle Center. And it was a GREAT success! Long time Peace By Piece Quilters found their way to our new home and a few new volunteers joined us for a day of sewing. Many visitors stopped by throughout the day to introduce themselves, say "HI" and to find out what the Peace By Piece Quilters were all about. Our new space will allow us to accomplish our goal in a much BIGGER way. We can now not only enjoy sewing, but also layering and kit making! Of course, all the old favorites were still enjoyed... like good company, sweet treats and door prizes. AND we even added PIZZAS to the day!!! Amongst all that we completed 32 quilts. What wasn't provided at our new home was crying children and a paging system telling us to "Get Your Keytag Punched For Great Savings".

Which brings to mind...

 THE LAST DAYS OF

A few days ago I stopped by CraftMart for what will probably be my final visit there. It's looking pretty bare in there, and I must say a little sad. Their doors can't stay open much longer so if you haven't made your last visit you may want to do it soon. Everything is now at 70% off. There were still a few items left that will interest a quilter. I did find a Peace By Piece Quilters volunteer in there taking advantage of the discounted prices. She had an arm load of fabric she was taking home with her.

IT'S JUST AROUND THE CORNER...

Halloween that is. So you know what that means??? Time to make some Halloween quilts to give a child... or two... or three... geee, how many do you think we can make? It appears as though area hospitals have put a request in to Arizona Blankets 4 Kids for Halloween themed quilts. And AZB4K has passed that request onto us. The AZB4K board will be supplying us with Halloween themed quilt kits to help us with this  request. Working on Halloween quilts will remind us that fall is just around the corner, and that means

 COOLER TEMPERATURES!

ANOTHER REQUEST...

Hospitals are also asking for scraps of fleece. ANY size no matter how BIG or small. These scraps can be annoying when taking up space in your sewing stash but they are very useful in helping support small limbs and bodies and protecting the delicate skin of such small patients. So bring your scrap fleece with you to the next bee and we'll pass it onto the AZB4K distribution committee.

CHECK IT OUT...

There's been a couple of new links added to the Peace By Piece Quilters "Favorite Links" page.

One is a brand new business that offers handmade cards at a very reasonable price. The 5 Tepes is the name of the company and the cards are made by my niece. She is a very creative gal and I've had the pleasure of receiving a handmade card from her.

While searching for FUN things to share with you I found a quilt test on the PBS web site. It's a FUN way to test your quilt knowledge and learn a few new quilty tidbits too.

MORE NEW STUFF...

You should also check out the Peace By Piece Quilters "Recipe" page. I've added a couple of my families favorite recipes. Look for "Cauliflower Salad" and "Vanilla Fruit Salad". They are a couple of great hot weather NO COOK recipes that taste mighty fine.

Mmmmm.... Good

ARIZONA BLANKETS 4 KIDS HAPPENINGS...

It's almost time for Arizona Blankets 4 Kids 2007 board positions to be filled by some new members. SO... If you are looking for something special to do for the children in your community think about volunteering to serve on the AZB4K board in 2007. Empty positions need to be filled by November 2006. Contact any AZB4K current board member for more information.

LOOK FOR THE BANNER...

The next Peace By Piece Quilters bee at our new home is scheduled for Thursday August, 24. You'll find all the activity in the Yuma room again this month. Look for the Peace By Piece Quilters banner hanging on the door. Come and make some Halloween quilts, it will help you THINK COOL.

See ya at the bee!
