We are about to start another New Year. Are you ready??? Me neither... I was just getting used to writing 2008 and it's already time to change to 2009! Seems like I go through life trying to catch up! But 2009... REALLY? How did I get here? Remember yesterday, when all the talk was about Y2K? Hmmmm. Guess this is where I could apply that saying... "Time flies when you're having FUN".
|
The New Year brings some important changes to the Peace By Piece Quilters bee schedule. In 2009 our bee schedule will be a little easier to remember and hopefully a lot easier for you to fit these FUN sewing days into your busy schedule. Our bees will be held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. Now, isn't that much simpler to remember than the 1st Friday and the 4th Thursday? Or was it the 1st Thursday and the 4th Friday???

The Peace By Piece Quilters are a group that I am proud to say I am a part of. The Peace By Piece volunteers are a great group of ladies that do great things. In 2008 those volunteers made a difference in the lives of children in our community by making a total of 525 quilts! 266 Preemie quilts and 259 Child size quilts. This year we even added 4 bibs to our pile! Bibs... Now, that's a first! At the end of every year when the total of quilts is added up the number is bigger than the year before. In 2004 the Peace By Piece Quilters made 58 quilts. Their efforts in 2005 made 270 quilts. In 2006 there was even more with 300 made. We saw 466 quilts go out into the community in 2007. And this year we topped that with 525 quilts! Does your heart good, doesn't it!

MYSTERY PROJECT... The
1st Peace
By Piece Quilters Mystery Project is nearing completion! All 3 clues have been handed
out to volunteers adventurous enough to participate and it's almost time
for us to see what the finished quilts looks like. Have you got yours done
yet? Me neither... Time is running out! The plan is for everyone to
bring your Mystery Project to the bee on January 15 to share the results with a show
and tell that's sure to inspire us all. FUN. FUN.. FUN... Hopefully I can
also remember to bring my camera that day so we can post pictures on the
website.

THE CUTTING EDGE QUILTWORKS The Peace By Piece Quilters gathered for the last time in 2008 at the Cutting Edge on December 11. The day was productive with 17 quilts being made. There were 6 Preemie quilts and 11 Child size quilts made. Each quilt left us with the mission of becoming a much needed hug for a special child.

THE KIT BASKET IS EMPTY!!! |
|
If you attended one of the last 2 bees then you know WE ARE OUTTA KITS! No kits means we have nothing ready to sew! It also means it's time to have a Kit Makin' Bee. The Kit Bee is scheduled for Tuesday, January 6. As usual, the Kit Bee will be at my home cuz that's where all the piles of fabric are. We'll start cutting fabric at 10:00. Lunch will be served to those attending. Please bring your favorite ruler and cutter. If you've never attended a Kit Bee and need directions to my home just give me a call (480)755-0757 or send me an e-mail through the 'Contact Us' page.

FUN STUFF 4 YOU... |
|
During our last bee at the Cutting Edge Kitty (the owner) read this FUNNY story to me while I was squaring up a quilt. It's just too darn FUNNY not to share it with you. Check out "Flat Tire" on the "Fun Stuff" page.

QUOTES & TIDBITS...

Giving
is so often thought of in terms of the gifts we give, but our greatest
giving is of our time, and kindness, and even comfort for those who need
it. We look on these little things as unimportant--until we need them.
None are so poor that they have nothing to give... and none so rich that they have nothing to receive. ~Pope
John Paul II~ |

UPCOMING BEE DATES... The first kit bee of 2009 will be held on Tuesday, January 6 at my home. There is only one sewing bee scheduled for January. It will be at the Cutting Edge Quiltworks on Thursday, January 15. When I count my blessings, you were all among them. ~Wanda Dix~ |
