ROLLIN' IN THE DOUGH... |
|
This month in an attempt to raise Mo Money for the New Year we listed another quilt on ebay. This quilt was larger than the last two we listed and in Holiday/winter friendly colors. Our hope was for it to raise LOTS of money so we could buy LOTS of batting. The quilts final ebay bid was $70.99. That's half the cost of a roll of batting!
AND... We also listed a beautiful well crafted needle point piece that had been donated to us. It received a final bid of $9.99. BUT... Sometimes Mo Money comes from places you really don't expect and often times it seems to come at this time of year. In February my husbands employer, Microchip, offered an employee matching program. If your family is actively involved with a charity organization they would match your monetary donation up to $200. We felt our involvement with the Peace by Piece Quilters may qualify as 'active' so we filled out the paperwork and waited... and waited... and waited... With so many months passing we assumed we didn't qualify :o( BUT this month a check was received in the amount of $200 !!! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

THE SEASON OF GIVING... | |
|
Here's
the links to a giving story that was recently shared with me...
Meet Stanley Stanley... his story continues http://www.blip.tv/file/3963868?utm_ If you would like to help a dog like Stanley or a kitten in need there are two no kill non-profit shelters in our area that need support from us. Their mission is to find loving homes for animals that need a second chance. Your donations of money and supplies are greatly needed. Friends for Life finds homes for rescued stray animals. Visit them at www.azfriends.org. Arizona Rescue rescues animals from our county and state shelters that have been placed on the euthanasia list, just like Stanley. Visit them at www.azrescue.org.

Good will...is an immeasurable and tremendous energy, the atomic energy of the spirit. ~ Eleanor B. Stock~
Children are apt to live up to what you believe of them. ~ Lady Bird Johnson ~
The real St. Nicholas lived in Turkey, where he was bishop of the town of Myra, in the early 4th century. It was the Dutch who first made him into a Christmas gift-giver, and Dutch settlers brought him to America where his name eventually became the familiar Santa Claus. ~corsinet.com~

JUST FOR GRINS...
|
|
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Helping me sort clothes into "save" and "give away" piles, my six-year-old daughter came across a garter belt. "What's this?" she asked. "It's a garter belt," I said. Seeing that meant nothing to her, I added, "It's for holding up stockings." "Ah," she said, carefully placing it in the "save" pile, "we'll use it next Christmas Eve."
