February 2006 |
|
ANOTHER MONTH... ANOTHER BEE... January is gone. We've left the hustle and bustle of the holiday season behind us and have had time to settle into a normal life again. And now IT'S BEE TIME !!!!!! |

CAN WE REALLY DO IT? Last month the Peace By Piece Quilters Newsletter shared with you the fact that volunteers made a whopping 270 quilts in 2005. And the goal for 2006 was to deliver 300 quilts to AZ Blankets 4 Kids. Now that is only 30 more quilts and doesn't sound like an overly BIG goal in 2006 for the Peace By Piece Quilters. But our first bee of the New Year didn't get us off to very good start in meeting that goal. We were only able to complete 11 quilts in January. |
THE BUNNIES ARE TAKING' OVER THE BEE |

|
The
next Peace by Piece Quilters bee is going to be all about
bunnies... and well, a few ducks. That's right, bunnies and ducks! A lot
of work has gone into preparing for the next Peace By Piece Quilters bee
and the bee suitcases are overflowing with kits that have bunnies and
ducks ready to pop out of their little kits and onto quilts. You are gunna

AZB4K HAPPENINGS The AZB4K Spring Blanket Bee was held on February 11, 2006 at the Chandler Police Department. As of yet I haven't received word on how many quilts were counted at the end of the Spring bee but we all know there's never enough to fill the need. There is a really FUN event coming up to benefit AZB4K that is a 'must attend'. It's a White Elephant Auction! This is the 3rd (maybe 4th) annual White Elephant AZB4K auction and they are a blast! The ladies at Las Palmas Grand are the hostess' for this years event. Please go to www.azblankets4kids.com for all the information on the event and then mark your calendars to attend. I'll
see ya there.

After the last Peace By Piece Quilters bee I had the pleasure of visiting with Shirley (the lady in charge of all that Craftmart fabric). And she informed me of a Craftmart request of the Peace By Piece Quilters to help them with a very special project. You'll have to come to bee to see the project and get all the info. It's pretty awesome! |

PEACE BY PIECE HAPPENINGS If you missed last months Peace By Piece Quilters bee you missed a special treat. AZB4K board member Carol Willsey came and sewed with us. She brought a special little gift for each volunteer attending the bee. You never know what you're going to miss out on when you don't come to the bee. AND... Did you know... our very own Nina is now an AZB4K board member! How cool is that? AND... This month we received a tremendous fabric donation from quilt and fabric designer extraordinaire, Heidi Pridemore. I had the pleasure of meeting Heidi last summer at a quilting event where she was a lecturer and vendor. This year I attended another lecture and trunk show of her awesome works. You can learn more about Heidi and her designs by visiting her website at www.thewhimsicalworkshop.com Heidi is a resident of The Valley of the Sun and I highly recommend that you attend one of her lectures or workshops if you have the opportunity.

I'll be at the Craftmart at 10:00 with a truckload of STUFF to keep you entertained. I've got a pile of cute bunny and duck kits for your sewing pleasure. They are going to make you go ooohh & aaahhh. I'll be bringing the Craftmart project AND most importantly... something sweet to eat and door prizes. See ya at the bee! ~Wanda~ |
