February 2007

 GREAT PEOPLE

CREATE GREAT SUCCESS...

The first two bees of 2007 were a GREAT success thanks to all the GREAT people who volunteered.

The first Peace By Piece Quilters bee at the Westside Center was a GREAT success. Valentine fabric was definitely present and everyone put it to good use. We made a total of 25 quilts! There were 6 crib size and 19 cute little Valentine preemie quilts that we sent out into the world to provide hugs and kisses.

SALLY'S FABRIC

And... our first bee at Sally's Fabric was just as successful for a total of 21 quilts with 8 crib size and 13 Valentine preemies.

So between the two bees we made a whopping 46 quilts!!!!

Isn't that awesome?!?

GREAT people really do create GREAT success.

WHAT OTHER GREAT THING HAPPENED ???

A PICNIC !?!? Yep, a picnic! PJ couldn't make it to the bee to sew but she did show up at lunch time with a basket full of food. Hotdogs with all the fixin's, chips, tea and soda. It was mmmmmmm good.

We also had a delicious sampling of Lemon Bars fresh from Barb Eckles kitchen.

AND NOW...

The Peace By Piece Quilters are ready to take their New Year momentum on to the next two bees with those green fabrics of St. Patty's day. At the next bee volunteers will have the pleasure of sewing up lots of those fun preemie kits using all shades of green with shamrock flannel backs.

WHAT ELSE COULD WE MAKE ???

Well... the Peace By Piece Quilters  could make Easter eggs...

But that's not what the Peace By Piece Quilters do best!

Instead we will be making QUILTS using springy Easter colors.

DATES TO

 REMEMBER

There are several dates coming up (other than Peace By Piece Quilter bee dates) that you'll want to have marked on your calendar.

AZB4K has a spring bee scheduled for February 17.

Las Palmas Grande is hosting an AZB4K bee on February 25.

Please check the AZB4K website for all the details.

The Queen Valley Scrap Rats annual quilt show will be held on March 3.

The Arizona Quilters Guild annual quilt show is scheduled for March 16 & 17.

Please go to the www.azquiltersguild.org website for more info on these shows.

A NEW TOPIC...

At our last bee we discussed the topic of annoying telemarketer calls coming through on cell phones. This seems to be happen more and more. So I've added the Do Not Call Registry web address to the links page. You can use this handy link to add your cell (or house) phone number to the Do Not Call list. The website is very user friendly and adding your number will save you time and frustration.

AND SOME CHANGES...

This month I chained the Peace By Piece Quilters webmaster to his desk and made him do some work. You might want to check out the user friendly changes made to the "Recipes" and the "Links" pages. They have both been given a new and improved format.

IT'S BEE TIME...

I'll see you on Thursday, February 22 at the Westside Center in Tempe.

And Friday, March 2 at the Sally's Fabric store in Mesa.

There will be lots of kits with green and other cheery spring colors along with something good to eat, fun, door prizes and laughter.
