WE DID IT AGAIN... The Peace by Piece Quilters came through again this year with another awesome quilt to donate to Mission del Sol Church to use as a fundraiser to help support their missions in 2014. The quilt was presented to the church during our December bee. Members of the church will be selling raffle tickets for the quilt until February 9th. Don't ya love the picture of all the generous volunteers with this awesome quilt? But ya know the quilt really is the star so here's a picture of the quilt all by itself...
Now for the quilt talk... This top was made several years ago by Peace by Piece volunteer, Sherry Campbell. Sherry used to come and spend bee days with us hand stitching the labels onto the our finished quilts. One day she brought this beautiful top to us as a donation to use in any way we could. She made it using disassembled mens neckties! The grey inner border looks as though it was previously a mens suit and all those little rectangles on the grey are the labels from the ties. This is not only an example of great workmanship and patience but also recycling at it's finest. Peace by Piece volunteer Terry A, did a beautiful job of quilting it. Leslie S. did the machine stitch work on the binding and Doreen K. did the hand stitching on the binding. If you would like to purchase raffle tickets for an opportunity to win this quilt (and support the church's effort to raise money) you can do so at the church office or during their Super Flea held at the church on February 8th. |

BEE
REPORT |

|
At the December bee several
volunteers brought yummy holiday sweet treats to share. All that sugar
energy helped volunteers completed 44 quilts, sew together 11 tops, get lots
of Easter kit-kits put together, a supply of kits cut and a few quilts tied. Our
monthly fundraising raffle items raised $53 for the batting fund. YEAR END REPORT The
Peace
by Piece Quilters bring 2013 to a close having made 496 quilts.
We have made 4,037 quilts since that first bee 10 years ago. That kind
of success does not happen without the kind hands and caring hearts of many.

QUOTES & TIDBITS |

In the past year AZB4K has distributed 6,200 comfort quilts to area agencies servicing seriously ill and traumatized children. New Year is the oldest of all holidays, as it was first observed in ancient Babylon as many as 4000 years ago. The tradition of making New Year resolutions dates back to the early Babylonians.
