SPEAKING OF...

Last month the Peace By Piece Quilters got some BIG news from the Craftmart store where we have held our monthly quilting bees for over two years. The owner of Craftmart is retiring! It's  something we all hope to do someday.  We are very happy for the Craftmart owner and his family and hope they enjoy retirement with many FUN days. We would like to thank Craftmart for their generosity in allowing us to use their space on a monthly basis for so long. However...This news means the Craftmart store is closing. And so, their retirement news became a "Rude Awakening" for the Peace By Piece Quilters. We would no longer have a place to hold our quilting bees. Without bees we could no longer continue our mission to make comfort quilts for children in our community. As the Craftmart owners start a new chapter in their journey through life, the Peace By Piece Quilters also start a new chapter.

AND SO THE SEARCH WAS ON...

Immediately the search for a new home where the Peace By Piece Quilters could hold monthly bees began! Lots of you shared ideas and gave suggestions on where to look for a place we could call home. Lots of research was done, a few phone calls made, and numerous emails went flying through cyberspace. 

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED...

Our work paid off and a home was found! The paperwork was filled out, signed, delivered, and approved. The deal was finally sealed. The Peace By Piece Quilters were successful in their mission to find a new home! 

Everything is in place for the rest of the Peace By Piece Quilters bees for 2006. Check our calendar page for bee dates as there are some variations from the normal schedule.

A NEW HOME...

The new Peace By Piece Quilters home is at the Pyle Adult Recreation Center in Tempe. The Pyle Center is located at the corner of Rural rd and Southern by the Tempe Public Library. The Tempe Pyle Center website link has been added to our 'Favorite Links' page. You can go there to check out the Pyle Center website for all the FUN stuff happening. 

MORE NEWS...  

Because our new home has several rooms with lots of people having FUN, I thought it may be difficult for the Peace By Piece Quilters to find the bee FUN. So I've created a Peace By Piece Quilters banner. It stared out as an orphan block someone donated. I added Peace By Piece Quilters lettering, a little quilting and a way to hang it from a doorknob. So when bee day comes and you arrive at the Pyle Center for a day of bee FUN, just look for the banner and you'll easily find your fellow Peace By Piece Quilters.

     AND UPDATES...   

A new home for the Peace By Piece Quilters meant we had to have new contact cards. An order was placed with the new location info and cards arrived in my mailbox in record time.

The new cards will be available at the next bee. Be sure to replace your stock of Peace By Piece Quilters contact cards with the updated cards. 

AZB4K HAPPENINGS...

Did ya make it to the Las Palmas Grand Blanket Bee on Saturday, June 24? The annual event provides many quilts for AZ Blankets 4 Kids. This years bee provided 488 quilts While old friends and new friends had a LOT of FUN making all those quilts they also got to enjoy a delicious lunch that was provided for all. What better way to spend a COOL summer day.  

DON'T FORGET THE AZB4K GETAWAY...

There is still time to get signed up for a COOL  summer getaway.  The Cutting Edge Quiltworks and AZ Blankets 4 Kids has scheduled for August 18-20. This promises to be a weekend of COOL temperatures and FUN quilt activities that you don't want to miss. There are lots of busy quilters on the Internet and this month a busy quilting business found us. The Internet business, Shabby Fabrics.com, offered to help us in our mission. They sent enough 4-patch block kits to make two quilts! You are gunna fall in LOVE with these fabrics. They are beautiful. 

AND...Shabby Fabrics has provided discount cards for Peace By Piece Quilters to use for online purchases of their beautiful fabric. The Shabby Fabrics discount cards will be available at the next bee.  Check out the Shabby Fabrics web site on our 'Favorite Links' page. Pick out the fabrics that must be in your stash and save money with the discount card. 

LOOK FOR THE BANNER...

The first Peace By Piece Quilters bee at our new home is scheduled for Thursday July, 27. The FUN will start at 10:00am  in the Yuma room. Look for the Peace By Piece Quilters banner hanging on the door. As usual, there will be lots of things to keep your fingers busy, sweet treats to eat, Shabby Fabric discount cards, door prizes, new contact cards, AIR CONDITIONING, and most importantly FUN...
