REALLY BIG NEWS...
|
|
|
If you made it to the last Peace By Piece Quilters bee then you know we are no longer holding bees at Sally's Fabrics in Mesa. The location didn't seem convenient for many bee goers so we've found a new home that we hope will be less driving for most of our volunteers. Less money spent on gas means more money for fabric! Ahhh...that got your attention. Our 1st Friday of the month bees will now be held at the NEW 35th Ave Sew & Vac location in Chandler. The new store is much BIGGER with a nice size classroom. Their new store is in the plaza at the S/E corner of Ray and Rural roads. Come sew with us on August 1. Check the 'Maps' page for directions. |
KIT BEE REPORT... A few VERY dedicated Peace By Piece Quilters volunteers showed up for the Preemie Kit Bee on July 14. Terry, Nina and Doreen knocked on the door ready to put their creative abilities to work for all Peace By Piece Quilters to enjoy. This small but energetic group made 37 Preemie quilt kits and 19 child size kits! A job very well done. Without their dedication we could not continue to make so many much needed huggable quilts. |

THE CUTTING EDGE QUILTWORKS As always, many Peace By Piece Quilters volunteers came to the Bee in June. We made 27 quilts! WOW. 4 child size quilts got finished along with 23 Preemies. Those cute little Preemie quilts were everywhere.

During
our last bee at the Cutting Edge Quiltworks Kitty shared some exciting news
with us. They now have an Accu Cut machine! If you're like me... that
announcement brought a blank stare and a BIG question mark dangling over my
head. Turns out an Accu Cut machine is a quilters friend BECAUSE... it quickly
and accurately cuts many, MANY squares. AND it even cuts those little time
consuming cuts around the edges of squares for all you rag quilt lovers out
there. Yep, it's a quilters new best friend. Just talk with Kitty and girls at
the Cutting Edge to find out how to get your rag quilt squares cut. During the bee Kitty had all of our chairs equipped with these really comfortable back supporters. They slip right over the back of any chair and by the end of the day we all realized they are ANOTHER quilters best friend! And guess what??? For only $17 you can take your new best friend home with you and spend many hours together. AND... Kitty just never stops. The Cutting Edge is hosting a Preemie Bee on July 27. A little birdie told me they are focusing on Christmas themed preemies. Think cool...

DID YOU GET TO SEE??? |

In last month's newsletter I hinted that we may have a couple of special bee visitors at the Cutting Edge. Well, Janet's little granddaughter did stopped by with her mommy. The little one spent some time helping her Grandma do some serious inspecting of the activities with her BIG pretty eyes. What a sweetie. Little Luci couldn't make it that day but did send some photos with grandma Terry. |

CHECK IT OUT... At
the last bee volunteers were pleasing their taste buds with a special
treat. Brownies! Seems my husband has a talent I wasn't aware of and he
decided to share it with the Peace By Piece Quilters. After 17
years you'd think I would know he could make brownies...from scratch!
Me... one of those people that could live on chocolate and prefers to eat
dessert BEFORE dinner, and I didn't know he could make brownies... Go
figure. Anyway... he made brownies for bee volunteers and there was mere
crumbs left at the end of the day. So now we all know of this talent. He
was gracious enough to share his 'secret' recipe with us. And now it's on
the 'Recipes' page so you can make them for your special someone.... or
yourself.

The good that men (and women) do lives after them. ~Ruth Gordon~ And with that saying I'd like to share with you a little poem that was found on a dear neighbors desk after her passing. It is a good one to live by...
Always remember to forget the things that make you sad, But never forget to remember the things that made you glad. Always remember to forget the friends that proved untrue, But never forget to remember those that have stuck by you. Always remember to forget the troubles that passed away, But never forget to remember the blessings that come each day. |
UPCOMING BEE DATES... The next Peace By Piece Quilters bee is Thursday, July, 24 at the Cutting Edge Quiltworks. Thanks to some dedicated volunteers there will be lots of cute child and preemie kits for your sewing pleasure. AND THEN... On August 1 the Peace By Piece Quilters will hold their very first bee at 35th Ave Sew & Vac! Not only will you get to sew cute Peace By Piece Quilters fabric but you'll also get to touch (and buy) lots of really nice 35th Ave fabric! What a Day! Quilty Hugs, ~Wanda Dix~ |
