June 2011

THE NEED NEVER GOES AWAY

Well, we've arrived at June ALREADY.  And even though we have had a really mild spring it is beginning to feel a lot like summer is here.  Even though we are hitting the triple digit temperatures the need for comfort quilts is still in high demand.  So far this year the Peace by Piece Quilters have made 138 quilts and everyone of them has been delivered to a facility in need, sometimes on the same day we made them.

ONE MORE PET BED

The scraps continue to come and here is one more pet bed I made using some of those scraps.  The panel was found among our donated fabrics and didn't appear particularly kid friendly but perfect for a cat!  It didn't take long for an appreciative cat named Nico to claim it as her own.  Nico is currently hanging out at AZ Rescue waiting for a forever home.  I'm sure when she finds her new people she'll take her bed with her.

Don't forget to bring your scraps to our next bee.  Our new scrap collector, Mary B  will drop them off to her neighbor who makes animal beds for area shelters.  So bring your scraps and Mary will collect and deliver them to her neighbor.

  BEE REPORT

During our May bee we filled the new Cutting Edge shop with 16 people.  A new space provided the group with a new energy.  It didn't take long for the machines to start humming and we had lots of new restaurants to explore for lunch.  We completed 25 quilts and 15 tops were sewn together.   The Peace by Piece closet currently has 29 tops waiting to be quilted.

QUOTES & TIDBITS

I think of life as a good book.  The further you get into it, the more it begins to make sense.

PUZZLING

Here's our next puzzle offering.  You may recognize it if you were at the last bee.  Terry made it using donated funky chicken blocks.  Just click your mouse on the picture to go to the puzzle page.  It's guaranteed to make you smile.

UPCOMING BEE DATES

Our next sewing bee will be Thursday, June 16 at the NEW Cutting Edge Quilts.  If you haven't yet found your way to the new shop you'll find a map by clicking on the Maps button of this website.  As always there will be plenty of STUFF for everyone to work on.  Our kit suitcase is stuffed with 28 kits and we have several waiting for binding.  The most important homework project this month will be cutting kit kits, otherwise we'll be running out of kits to sew during the July bee.  Please let me know if you need any special supplies for homework projects like batting or backing.  Or if you would like something to quilt/tie let me know how many you want and I'll get everything gathered up for you.

See ya at the bee.
