June, 2012 |
IT'S HOT ! According to the calendar summer hasn't started yet but according to the thermometer on my back porch IT'S HERE! To have a quilt covering our body is the last thing we need with these triple digit temps. But organizations servicing seriously ill and traumatized children still need and use quilts. Quilts not only provide warmth they also comfort, and comfort is what all of these children need, no matter what the temperatures are outside. So please don't think we don't need to make as many quilts because it feels like summer. The main reason we make quilts is to comfort.

The Peace by Piece Quilters May bee was a busy day. A BIG thank you goes out to those that spent the day sorting and packaging a large assortment of donated fabric we had received. Because of you that donation is one step closer to becoming much needed and loved quilts. And the cutting table was busy non-stop with people cutting kits. We finished out the day with 31 child/teen and 2 little preemie quilts being completed. We also put together 17 tops. The May bee fundraiser raffle raised $67 for the batting fund. Thank you to everyone who has donated new items for our fund raising raffles. Without your generosity we could not be raising these much needed monies every month to help with our sizeable batting expenses. |

And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free. And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me. ~Lee Greenwood~ ~ ~ ~ Here's one us desert dwellers can relate to... Pool noodles are great for storing quilts. Just roll the quilt around the noodle and secure by tying left over binding around it to hold it in place. No more fold lines! ~ ~ ~ Learned from dear ol' mom... My mother taught me FORESIGHT. "Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you're in an accident." ~ ~ ~
