March, 2017

This past month I finally got to tie my hubby, aka the Peace by Piece Webmaster, to the computer to get some website housekeeping chores done.  The result...
The 'Favorite Links' button/page has been removed.  The links that were still functioning and relative have been moved to the 'Fun Stuff' button/page or to a NEW button/page titled
'Our Community'.
You may want to familiarize yourself with what you'll find on the 'Our Community' page.  Not only does it contain those links formerly found on the 'Favorite Links' page it also contains information not formerly found on our website, such as document's and pictures you may want to visit from time to time.  Take a look.

The Mission del Sol Hygiene Drive continues into March.  Donated hygiene items will be distributed in a joint effort between the Kyrene Foundation and the Kyrene School District to help underprivileged families with basic needs such as food and hygiene supplies.  When a qualifying family picks up a food box it includes a hygiene kit of basic hygiene items.

If you wish to participate in the drive and didn't get a chance to do so last month you've got another chance.  We will be collecting the items listed below during the March bee.  Look for the table with the Hygiene Drive sign.

Participation is completely voluntary.  Listed below are the items needed.

1. Shampoo
2. Conditioner
3. Toothbrushes
4. Toothpaste
5. Bar Soap
6. Deodorant

Hi Everyone, Duke here:

"Sunshine on our shoulders....makes us happy!"  Mom has had to put the shelter bed project on hold for awhile.  She's put her nose to the ground to try and find another shelter/rescue that can use the wonderful pillows you all make.  So, NO scraps or pillows for the March meeting.  She'll keep us all posted...

In Observance of St Patrick's Day:

In the United States, it's customary to wear green on St. Patrick's Day.  But in Ireland the color was long considered to be unlucky.  Irish folklore holds that green is the favorite color of the Good People (the proper name for faeries).  They are likely to steal people, especially children, who wear too much of the color.
~Bridget Haggerty
author of The Traditional Irish Wedding

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 34 million United States residents claim Irish ancestry, or nearly ten times the entire population of Ireland today, which stands at 3.9 million. Among U.S. ethnic groups, the number of Irish-Americans in the U.S. is second only to the number of German-Americans.

Ireland is about 300 miles long and 200 miles wide. Those facts, along with other features, led Swedish geographer Ulf Erlingsson to recently conclude that the Atlantic Ocean island is the same one identified by ancient Greek philosopher Plato as Atlantis in his famous dialogues Timaeus and Critias.

These days it seems like every time I watch the news there's a group of people protesting something which made this photo seem perfect.

Upcoming AZB4K bee schedule is:

~ March 11 at Fountain of the Sun in Mesa.
~ April 1 at Sunland Springs Village in Mesa.
~ June 17 at Las Palmas Grand in Mesa.

Check the AZB4K website for more information about these bees and other AZB4K happenings.
