November, 2016

Make sure you have December 1st marked on your calendar to come spend time with good food & company, surrounded by loads of FUN cuz it's the time of year for our annual Potluck Lunch.  But this year we're making a party out of it!

Here's some things you may want to know to help with your decision on what yummy treat to bring.
*This is a TRUE potluck which means NO signup sheet.  Just bring a dish filled with your favorite recipe to share with your fellow volunteers.
*We do have full use of the kitchen for the day so foods requiring refrigeration and/or heating can be accommodated as well as electric for small appliances such as crockpots.
*Plates, eating utensils and napkins will be supplied.
*Drinks will not be supplied, it's a BYOD event, so don't bring a case of water and call it your dish.

Pssst... There will be PRIZES for everyone AND the raffle table will have a few extra items so save your dollars!

Here is your chance to win an OttLite 18w Classic Table Lamp!  Chances for this great OttLite will be available at the November and December Bees with the winning ticket drawn in December. This is a great gift for yourself or a friend! (Picture is representative of the OttLite available.  It is brand new, still in the box.  See it on display at the Bee.)

We all love OttLites!  Here is more information: this 18w Table Lamp offers powerful illumination and total flexibility.  Ideal for tables, countertops and work benches.  Shade height and angle can be easily adjusted with one hand using the flexible neck.  By delivering the right mix of brightness and contrast, OttLite Illumination lets you see colors, fine print and details with ease under this unique low heat, low glare illumination that helps reduce eyestrain.  Bulb included; rated to last up to 10,000 hours.

  32 tops were sewn together.
~ The raffle items raised a total of$58.
The special 3 month Christmas kit raffle (valued at $200) ended with the winning ticket pulled.  The owner of the winning ticket was not present!  The winner will be announced at the next bee.  So if you weren't at the bee last month you may want to come to the bee coming up cuz you could be the winner!

What you'll find at the November bee...

~ The kit-kit tub is overflowing with kit-kits for the volunteers who like cutting fabric up into pieces.
~ The kit basket is full to the brim with a large selection of kits for small and large tops in a wide variety of themes ready to be sewn together.
~ There are quilts tops ready for quilting/tying.
~ Several quilts are ready for binding and labels.
~ There are currently 136 tops in the Piece by Peace closet waiting to be quilted/or tied.
~ This month our main focus will be finishing up the Christmas quilts.  There are a couple needing quilting/tying and a few ready for binding.

Hi everyone, Duke here:

Wow, we sure are enjoying the "cooler" temps and can already smell the turkey cooking!  Funny thing though, mom has noticed that we all get sleepy after eating turkey!   Mom's been more of a "cut-up" this month and hasn't taken any beds to the shelter.  November will be more productive.  She has been cutting pieces for PxP kits.

Happy November to everyone and let's hope for cooler temps!

I've learned... That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.

I've learned... That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

I've learned... That life is like a roll of toilet paper.
The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
