CAN YOU BELIEVE...

...it's the end of October already?  Have you noticed the shift that has started to take place?  Traffic is heavier, people seem to be more hurried.  The stores are glittering with Holiday decorations and the shelves are already stocked with gift ideas.  The temperature continues to drop a few degrees cooler each week and that is evident in the amount of people that have pushed their shorts aside for long pants.  This time of year everyone is so busy preparing for holiday festivities but the cooler temperatures this time of year also means the demand for comfort quilts is rising.  This year the Peace by Piece Quilters volunteers have made 332 but many more will be needed before the New Year arrives.

  BEE REPORT

Twenty-nine volunteers left the October Peace by Piece Quilters bee with very warm hearts because they completed 41 quilts and 37 tops.  Our raffles raised $49 dollars to go towards our batting fund.

Kay (a new Peace by Piece Quilters volunteer) donated a check to us in the amount of $59.  Kay raised the money by making a quilt and raffling it to the  Gold Wing Road Riders Association- AZ Chapter D.

Thanks Kay!  What a great way to make a difference.

 QUOTES & TIDBITS

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.

To help make your next project easier use a water soluble glue, like Elmers School Glue to hold binding or appliqué pieces in place for hand stitching.

JUST FOR GRINS

Here's a cartoon sent to me by Peace by Piece Quilters volunteer, Leslie.  With Halloween only a couple of days away it seemed fitting for this newsletter.

This sea turtle lives in the Pacific Ocean at the coast of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.  We spent some time together on a lazy afternoon last week.
