September, 2016

At last months bee I shared information about the passing of Nancy Blackburn, a long time friend and volunteer of both Arizona Blankets for Kids and Peace by Piece Quilters.

Many of you may not remember Nancy because she has not attended any bees in the last few years due to illness.  The reason I bring her up is because she remembered us.  Even after she is gone she found a way to help us.
Her son contacted me to share her last wish to help us in our mission.  I was invited to her sewing space and instructed to remove the fabrics, notions, and anything else I thought our group could use for fundraising or in making comfort quilts.  Everything else left was to be offered to any quilter who could use it.  Some of the items I collected you will be seeing in upcoming raffles and others will be found on this months FREE TABLE.
Nancy also left us one of her sewing machines.  Her instructions... I was to use it as a fundraiser by either raffling it or selling it.  Her request... The name of the person that was to have first right of refusal if I decided to sell it.
What did I decide to do?  Sell it.  I feel that will raise the most money.  I am currently working with the buyer.  If she declines, it will be offered to all of the Peace by Piece volunteers before being offered to the general public.

Hi Everyone,

Mom is still having some health issues and will not be able to come to the bee again this month.  There will be a few dog bed covers available at the bee in case anyone needs them.  She will not be able accept any scraps again this month.  We are all hoping she'll be able to attend the October get together.
