CROSSING THE LINE In this country Labor Day is that invisible line in the sand that marks the end of summer. Well... almost. It really doesn't work that way here in the desert, we still have about a month of triple digit temps. Which gives us time to make quilts for those little ones that will need them when it does cool down in the desert. We've got all the stuff to get that done... except for YOU. Come and sew with us this Thursday, September 6, for a day of stitchin' and FUN.

The Peace by Piece Quilters August bee was a busy day. Lots of volunteers escaped the heat to spend some time stitchin' for a good cause. Even in the midst of summer we still need to do things that warm our hearts. We completed 43 quilts and 23 tops. Several volunteers came with their completed homework that filled the KIT basket and kept the sewing machines humming. We raised $34 raffle dollars for our batting fund. |
LOOKING AHEAD We've been informed by Mission del Sol Church that we can not use their facility for our February 7th bee. That week they will be using Mission Hall to prepare for their annual fundraising Super Flee. So... We need to pick another date for that months bee. Their scheduler is suggesting the follow week which would put it on February 14th, Valentines Day. So check your calendar and come to the bee with the dates in February that would work well for you so we can make a decision.

A word about labor in America... In the late 1880's the average American worked 12 hour days up to 7 days a week. The Adamson Act in 1916 established the 8-hour work day. ~ ~ ~ Don't have a design wall... Use blue painter's tape for putting blocks on a bare wall. The blocks are easy to move around for the perfect position and the walls will not become marred. ~ ~ ~ Learned from dear ol' mom... My mother taught me RELIGION "You better pray that will come out of the carpet."
