Summer 2010

IT'S BEEN AWHILE...

According to my calendar it has been three months since our last newsletter! I don't know where the time goes.  One day it's March, the next it's August.

A STAR AMONG US...

A few days ago I was watching an evening news story about the Tempe Town Lake. You know... we've been hearing about the bladder malfunction, the water all draining out and the plans to have everything back to normal by November. No news there... You've seen the field reporters interview people who are sad about the empty lake. On this particulate evening Mike Watkiss was the evenings field reporter and all of a sudden the camera was on someone we all know! It was Bruce! I did send Bruce an email sharing my surprise to see him on the TV. He responded with a "Hi and cheers to all of us". Here's a link to the segment.

  BEE REPORT...

We've had a few bees since the last newsletter so there's a lot of quilts that have went out into the world.

In May we completed 4 Preemies and 24 Child/Teen quilts.

The June bee sent 11 Child/Teen quilts out into the world.

July provided 4 Preemies and 15 Child/Teen quilts for children in need.

QUOTES & TIDBITS...

Everyone has the power of greatness. Not for fame, but greatness.  Because greatness is determined by service.

~ Martin Luther King Jr.~

The world is hugged by the faithful arms of volunteers.

Girl #1 (picking up a box of baking soda): I didn't know soda was baked.

Girl #2: Thank God it's not fried! Do you know how many extra calories that would be?!

AZ BLANKETS 4 KIDS HAPPENINGS...

AZB4K Annual Quilt Camp is happening as I type this. Can't wait to see their next newsletter with tidbits of information about the FUN time that I'm sure the camp will provide for attendees.

There is one AZB4K bee currently scheduled. It's the Fall Bee to be held October 2 at a NEW VENUE in Chandler. Check the AZB4K website at www.azblankets4kids.com for the latest bee information.
